Changes that affect a guide
The Steam announcement for 1.0.4 describes a broader map readout, new night-vision equipment, faster saving and automatic save backups. It also changes how the J.O.O.N.A.S. robot works when players are away from a sector.
- J.O.O.N.A.S. can keep cleaning without a player nearby and sends capsules to the nearest catcher.
- Map and navigation receive waypoint and robot-activity improvements.
- Saves receive backup and recovery work; do not assume a 1.0.4 save can be opened by an older build.
- Windows graphics defaults and older Proton startup fixes are part of the technical notes.
Why the version line matters
“Robot not working”, “save will not load” and “the map does not show the machine” are version-sensitive searches. A useful troubleshooting page should ask for the build first instead of copying a generic restart tip.
